Many who follow my blog enter from different points. Some for my family portraits, some for my Mitzvah and event work and others from my travel and live music work. This collection gives everyone a chance to see it all – the very best of 2012.
The year kicked off in high gear at the legendary Carnegie Hall for a 50th anniversary celebration of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Capturing so many great special guests inside the beautiful room set the tone for the year that followed. Thank you! Bowery Presents for an amazing year! Original blog post here.
While we are on the subject of rock and roll, here are a few more great highlights from the year including some great publicity from Rolling Stone Magazine – thank you DD at RS – so grateful for your support! Also, check out these artists whose albums were my absolute favorite of the year – which went on to become GRAMMY nominated for the 2013 Awards in February – including The Black Keys (album of the year), Jack White (album of the year and my personal favorite album of the year), and Alabama Shakes (best new artist). I close with one of my all-time favorite rock shots of Z02 from the Edge Rock Ball this year. Be sure to check out their Rock Asylum Foundation which helps school children perform better in school through playing music. Thank you to the amazing team (Jason and Emily, and Allison) at Live Nation for their support and amazing shows!
In March, I joined forces with Rock Paper Photo, the world’s most exciting collection of fine art rock and roll photography. Later that year, I had a few pieces in galleries on both coasts – in Los Angeles and New York. Thank you to the amazing team at RPP for their support and shared enthusiasm for this medium. Original blog post here.
Speaking of live performance, I want to recognize Audrey Kaplan and her amazing team at Applause. They are the absolute very best performing arts program and put on shows that are intelligent and dare to push the envelope to prepare their students for the professional arts field. Here are a few cool shots from their performance of HAIR. Original blog post here.
While capturing live music is certainly one of my favorite passions (who can deny the rush?), I really love to photograph magnificently designed rooms. I’ve been so blessed to work with the best event planners and designers in the United States. Jennifer Gould, Dejuan Stroud, Ed Libby, Debra Morris, Lawrence Scott Events, Matthew David Celebrations, Marc Jason and his incredible team at Total Entertainment and Melissa Rosenbloom and her amazing team at Gourmet Advisory Services produce the magic night after night for our team to document. Thank you to all of you!!! Here’s just a taste of some of the room details and themes…
Dining in these beautiful rooms is a sumptuous treat…
From newborns to the coming of age Bar/Bat Mitzah, here’s a collection of my favorites from this year.
The cornerstone of each Bar/Bat Mitzvah is reading from the Torah. We take this session very seriously and bring a cinematic approach to the photographs inside the Temple.
Here’s a few dramtic photographs captured this year – including two cover photographs for Mitzvah Magazine.
We had stellar and exotic travels this year. The ultrulux Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real in the Dominican Republic was eye candy at every turn. Original blog post here.
Visiting day with our kids in Maine is the best weekend of the year and one that brings us the most joy. Original blog post here.
Malta was the crown jewel of all vacations.
As magnificent as Malta was, we were completely taken by surprise at the outpouring of goodwill from people around the globe and especially the Maltese people who felt such a deep connection to the photographs.
Please check out my Malta Media Madness blog post here to read the amazing stories where more than 40,000 unique page views and over 300 comments were posted to the blog.
Then came the dream of all dream vacations – my master photography class in a 15th century castle in Tuscany studying with Clay Blackmore and David Ziser. Words don’t even come close to describe the dream experience it was for me. The first photograph in this dipthych (left side image) is my favorite image captured this year). Original blog post here.
Finishing the year winning the Award for Totally Awesome Friendliest Family Photographer (crazy award title, I know), was the icing on the cake for 2012 – a year for the history books!
